Hangul 한글

As you  know, Korean language does not use alphabet such as English. However, they have their own alphabets which make it really unique and interesting. Their alphabets called 한글 (hangul). Lets start learning!

This is the table of hangul:

How to read or write hangul?

Step 1

Memorize every single consonants and vowels above

Step 2

After you memorize, you need to combine them, therefore they can be read. Those consonants and vowels are not single alphabets such as ABC, they must be combined.

Wrong way to write  hangul: ㅎ ㅔ ㄹ ㅗ

How to combine them?
This can be a lot easier to explain by examples..
For example, you want to write "BA" you combine ㅂ and ㅏbecome 바

How about if i want to write with out a consonant?
Add ㅇ in front of vowels. For example, if you want to write "U" you combine ㅇ And ㅜ become 우

How about if i want to write with out a vowel?
Add ㅡ below the consonant. For example, if you want to write "B" you combine ㅂ and ㅡ become 브. Remember.. if you write it like previous instance, it will not be read as "BI" like in English, but "Bé"

How if i want to write a consonant-vowel-consonant or vowel-consonant?
You can add the consonant below the pair of consonant-vowel or vowel. For example, if you want to write "BAG", it will be writen like 백. If you want to write "EEL", it will be written as 일

REMEMBER! Hangul is not written by the English alphabet, but by how it is sounded and pronounced

After you know hangul's system, lets try to write!
How to write "COFFEE": Because it is pronounced "KOFI", It is written as 커피
How ro write "BRAZIL": It is written as 브라질. "B" of BRAZIL is a single consonant with out vowel, so it is written as 브. 라 because the combination of ㄹ  and ㅏ. And "ZIL" in BRAZIL is written as 질 because, as you see on the table above, there is no Z, so Z is pronounced as J. The ㄹ is become L because it is put under the pair.

NOTE:

ㄹ WILL BECOME R or L IF IT IS PUT IN FRONT, AND L IF YOU PUT IT ON THE BACK AS EXAMPLE ABOVE
If you want to use R on the back, you have to use 르. But most of R that is put on the back is not pronounced at all, like British. For example, "BAR" is written as 바. Other instance, they will change the last vowel into ㅓ. For example, "LIGHTER" is written as 라이터.
Then, if i want to use L in the middle? You put ㄹ below the first syllabels and the first consonant of second syllabels. For example, "BALI" is written as 발리

If you put ㅅ, ㅈ, ㅊ, ㄷ, ㅌ under, it will be will be read as T

If you put ㅇ under, it will be read as  NG

If you put ㅂ, ㅍ under, it will be read as P

The next lesson will explain about this more :)
